Internet Access in Spain
If you are reading this post and you live in Spain, it is very likely you are connected via ADSL, maybe for you are the normal way to connect to the Internet and maybe you think most of the accesses to the Internet in Spain are via ADSL.
It is certain ADSL is the access commonest in Spain, but represents less than half of the accesses to the Internet (49,99%). It only represents 36.8% of homes have access to Internet, this it gives us like a result only there are ADSL in the 18.4% of homes in Spain.
These data would be slanted if we did not remember cable connections, but these only represent 12.28%, so, the addition of ADSL and cable means only 62.27% of the Spanish internauts have access to broadband, or what is the same, 22.9% of homes have broadband connection to the Internet.
Actually, this situation of Spain leaves us in a quite clear situation, in Spain is not still extended the use of broadband. The problem is seeing these data we can not understand the war that exists between the operators, because it seems it still has a 77.1% “to conquerâ€, but obviously everybody does not require or need access to the Internet.
The problem to evaluate if the Spaniards require connection to the Internet begins evaluating if the Internet is a useful element for them, for it, the only thing which we can do is to watch the accesses of dialup which suppose a 31.79% of the existing connections, or in another words 15.85% of the homes.
Almost 16% of the homes in Spain are those that can be convinced to jump to broadband, not more, for the rest of the population the solution would happen through sensibilization actions and not through marketing campaigns nor of publicity.
Now if we paid attention to the publicity used by the broadband operators we can see publicity seems to be directed to the total of the population, but real target is smaller to 16%, obviously if we do not consider broadband users could change service provider, but if we were centered only in the really new clients, it implies of each euro spent in publicity we would be wasting 84 cents.
With all these data we can see sometimes it seems there is a problem, sometimes operators seems they think flooding marketing campaigns is the right option.
